The senior NSA official who blew the whistle
before Edward Snowden; Subject of “A Good American”,
a film directed by Frederic Moser and produced by Oliver Stone.

William Binney is famous for his analyses, code breaking, and his work with the NSA for over 30 years. Before his resignation, Binney was technical director of World Geopolitical and Military Analysis at the Signals Intelligence Automation Research Center (SARC), a 6,000-strong research centre he co-founded in Maryland. In October, 2001, Binney and his special four person team resigned from the NSA one month after the catastrophe of 9/11. They argued that the NSA could have prevented 9/11, and they also opposed the unconstitutional explosion of surveillance directed at American citizens, and the creation of a global, private surveillance state.
The Nation reported in March of 2013: "James Bamford, the world’s foremost authority on the NSA, said Americans should take Binney seriously. 'Remember, he was the equivalent of a general because of his rank' at the NSA, he said. 'In terms of going public with their names and faces,' the NSA Four rank as the most important whistleblowers in NSA history, he added. 'Obviously, I think they’re very credible.' Because of their experience in some of the NSA’s most secret programs, the NSA Four are 'indispensable' to understanding the agency’s unconstitutional operations, said Jameel Jaffer, deputy legal director for the ACLU. 'NSA is an extraordinarily powerful agency with sophisticated technology that is poorly understood by many experts. It operates behind a veil of secrecy that is penetrated only occasionally by whistleblowers like these.'”
Now that the impeachment attempt has collapsed – at the cost of an enormous amount of time and money that would well have been used for crises at home; and now that the fiasco of the Iowa Caucus has shown that the Democratic Party is fully capable of sabotaging its own election, it is time to consider the actual concerns indicated by the last 2 ½ years of “Russiagate”.
COUPS, WARS, JUDICIAL ELIMINATIONS, AND MASS SURVEILLANCE
First: Russia didn’t hack the missing DNC computers.
This was shown early on by the VIPS (Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity), and particularly by expert Bill Binney. CIA Director Mike Pompeo was directed by President Trump to meet with Binney on this question, which he did on October 24, 2017. Yet after the meeting, Binney’s expertise was not used, and after the impeachment vote, Pompeo continued attacking Russia and China.
A journalist recently asked Bill Binney: "Did Pompeo follow up with you about what happened with President Trump, and did President Trump follow up after being briefed by Pompeo? Do we know if Pompeo ever brief President Trump?" While we know President Trump has received this picture from other sources, what about Pompeo?
The question posed by Binney’s expose and the insistence by Washington intelligence agencies and Congressional representatives to keep attacking Russia, poses obvious questions. During the impeachment hearings, both those arguing for and those arguing against President Trump kept up the attack on Russia.
Why is the War Party so intent on creating a confrontation with Russia and China?
Why has the extent of the illegal surveillance and entrapment by intelligence agencies including British intelligence, not caused an uproar among all parties and civil libertarians in the United States?
How much have we allowed the surveillance state to change our culture and create a dynamic of fear which controls our lives and relationships and creates a passive citizenship and political class which are marched into supporting pre-ordained policies and personalities?
Ironically, President Trump’s stubbornness and determination in the face of these intelligence agencies has opened the door to see what has been happening with the surveillance state. Others have resisted in the past – from Congressman Cornelius Gallagher, to Martin Luther King, to Lyndon LaRouche. But the power of Big Brother continues as long as the citizens are complicit.
Bill Binney can document what is and is not known about Russia, Ukraine and the hack and the significance of Pompeo and others insisting on a Russian role which they know did not exist. Binney has stated that the use of mass surveillance for the purpose of social and psychological control is a growing global threat.
Do citizens want to break this control?
