Do we have to, Pres. Obama, become Al-Qaeda's airforce? There is no vacuum in which alleged "chemical weapons" crimes can be divorced from who is fighting who and why. This could be brought before the UN Security Council or the Dutch Empire backwater, the International Court at the Hague.
On Fox TV, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) appeared twice to deliver an
anti-war message. On Aug. 29, Paul said that he can't see fighting to
impose "Sharia law" in Syria.
"I also can't see sending my son to fight with Islamic rebels against
Christians," Paul said. "I also can't see my son going to fight on the
same side as al-Qaeda....
"When you go to war, Congress must authorize this," Paul said. "Both
the President and the Vice President, once upon a time, before they
became in power, understood this."
Texas Republican Rep. Ted Poe sent an extremely long and hard-hitting
letter to constituents to mobilize them against a war that Poe
illustrates is against the Constitution:
"What is the legal authority of the President to go to war?
"According to a former professor of constitutional law: 'The
President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally
authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve
stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation.'
"I could not have said it better myself. That sentence was uttered by candidate Barack Obama in 2007.
